This week, Public Health England have started offering an interactive vaccination map revealing how many people have had their first and second doses in the UK, including our area.

More than 44 million people across the nation have received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine - making it the largest inoculation project the population has ever experienced.

By the middle of this month the government aims to offer a jab to all adults, admitting that the ongoing success of the vaccine rollout is vital to restrictions being fully eased by its target date of July 19.

Nub News found that 83 per cent of adults in north Herts area including Hitchin have had their first dose of the vaccine - while 61 per cent have received the second dose.

The latest figures also show that there were 171 cases per 100,000 people in the week June 21 to June 27. The average area in England had 122.

There were also 229 news cases in the latest week (June 21 to June 27) - a rise of 140 compared with the previous seven days.

There have now been a total of 6,930 Covid cases up to July 1 with 319 coronavirus-related deaths registered to 11 Jun across North Herts since the pandemic began.
