Scope Celebrity Ambassador, comedian Richard Herring, has embarked on a punishing fundraising challenge.  

For the entire month of February, to raise money for Scope, he has decided to give up one of his most beloved snacks, the Solero. The exotic, fruity lollies are his perfect treat and he's eaten one daily for a decade or more.

Richard is asking his fans to donate £23.33, the monthly amount he would usually spend on Soleros.

He's set an extremely ambitious target of raising £500,000 and is over 1% towards meeting it with less than a week to go having raised a fantastic £10,000 through his ice cream abstinence so far.

Meanwhile Hitchin shopkeepers are surely struggling to know what to do with their backlogs of the famous lollies.
