Hitchin charities invited to apply for CityFibre funding to tackle digital exclusion
By James Denselow 9th Feb 2026
Registered charities in Hitchin and across Hertfordshire are being encouraged to apply for new funding aimed at helping local communities overcome digital barriers.
CityFibre has opened applications for its Community Fund Small Grants programme, offering awards of between £500 and £1,500 to support projects that improve digital inclusion and access to technology.
The funding is designed to support grassroots initiatives helping people who may struggle to get online or lack the skills or equipment needed to fully participate in modern digital life.
Supporting digital inclusion locally
Projects eligible for funding include those that:
• Help bridge the digital divide for vulnerable or under-represented groups, including low-income families, older residents and people living with disabilities.
• Improve digital literacy and confidence or introduce innovative ways for communities to access technology.
• Address community-identified needs that improve digital access and services affecting everyday life.
The fund could support initiatives such as community digital skills sessions, device access schemes, connectivity support projects or programmes helping residents access essential online services.
Deadline approaching
Charities wishing to apply must submit their application through the CityFibre Community Fund online platform, selecting the Small Grants scheme for Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Berkshire.
The deadline for applications is 27 March 2026.
Further details and guidance are available through the CityFibre Community Fund Frequently Asked Questions page.
Local organisations in Hitchin looking to expand digital access or support residents struggling with online services are encouraged to apply before the deadline.
