Hitchin Children's Book Festival hailed as huge hit

The Hitchin Children's Book Festival has been hailed as a huge hit.

The popular event that took place earlier this month that was co-hosted Next Page Books and the British Schools Museum saw a raft of renowned authors visit our town.

Next Page Books told Hitchin Nub News: "Well, what a day we had at the Hitchin Childrens Book Festival.

"So many families enjoying meeting our diverse bunch of fabulous authors, Ian Eagleton, Paula Harrison, Frankie Durkin and Az Dassu.

"We heard stories, made mermen, learnt sign language for sea creatures, created super cat-girls, had faces painted, listened to immersive tales, learnt a lot about history, science and tech, and enjoyed hearing about how it is to be an author.

"So many questions asked and answered, we hope everyone left feeling inspired."

Next Page paid tribute to the event sponsors, saying: "Thanks to generous sponsors Hitchin Property Trust and Raymond James Hitchin - who made it all possible - and whose kindness meant more than 150 people heard inspirational talks from a range of diverse authors, as the young readers of Hitchin came together to celebrate books."

Next Page added: "Thanks also to Impressions facepainting for the excellent creations, and Imajica theatre for the super lunchtime storytelling. And not forgetting the superb singing finale from Stagecoach Letchworth and Hitchin.

"Finally, huge thanks to our co-hosts, the British Schools Museum. All proceeds from ticket sales has gone to support the wonderful work they do to bring the past to life.

"So many thanks also all your wonderful volunteers who kept the crafts running all day long and to the fab gang at the Cafe who kept our tummies full."
