Hitchin Community Forum returns Tuesday 16 September — buses, grants, BID update and more on the agenda

Residents are invited to Hitchin Town Hall on Tuesday 16 September at 7pm for the latest Hitchin Community Forum, where councillors, local groups and the public come together to discuss town priorities and projects.
The evening begins with Town Talk, featuring an update from Hertfordshire County Council on the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) Queen Street hub scheme, delivered by Jeff Clayton, Strategy & Programme Manager for Highways Implementation.
A public Q&A with Forum councillors will follow, giving residents the chance to raise issues directly from the floor.
Businesses will be interested in a Verbal update from Hitchin BID on activity in the town centre—covering recent work to support traders and footfall.
Councillors will also consider two community grant applications from Hitchin Belles Football Club and Green Care at Norton CIC for recommendation,
The Forum will also receive a Presentation on Local Government Reorganisation, with time for questions and links to the ongoing public engagement on potential changes in Hertfordshire. Residents can read more via the Council's consultation pages referenced in the agenda.
A Community Update highlights local partnership work—ranging from coordinating support for asylum seekers and councillor surgeries to exploring a Hitchin-focused community network that would bring charities, clubs, faith groups and community centres together twice a year.
Finally, Ward Matters & Outside Organisations offers space for quick reports and public questions, and the Forum will discuss topics for future meetings.
How to take part: Just turn up on the night—questions will be invited from the floor during Town Talk. For general enquiries about the Forum, the agenda frontsheet lists the Community & Partnerships Team (Tel 01462 474274, Email [email protected]
