HITCHIN: Could our town's outdoor pool be on the verge of longer opening hours come the spring?

Hitchin's outdoor pool on Fishponds Road attracts many thousands of visitors over late spring, summer and early September.

However, many pool users have often expressed that they would like the popular public amenity to remain open longer.

And now, North Herts Council is considering their pleas after more than 1,200 residents backed a petition to see the pool open weeks earlier.

NHC told Hitchin Nub News on Tuesday that: ""We are currently reviewing options following the submission and presentation of the petition to council on extending the outdoor pool season and will report back shortly."

The swimmers claim Hitchin and Letchworth lidos currently miss the best of the weather, while saying an extension to the period would benefit the well-being of residents.
