Do you know where your nearest electric vehicle recharging points are in Hitchin?

Electric vehicle (EV) recharging points are located at five locations within North Herts for public use.

EV recharging parking bays for public use in Hitchin can be found in long stay car parks at the Lairage Multi Storey (level 1) and at Woodside, Hitchin.

A spokesperson for North Herts District Council said: "The purpose in installing EV recharging points in the district is to encourage the use of more sustainable forms of transport in line with our climate change policy and local air quality management responsibilities."

Other recharging areas in the district include Garden Square Multi Storey (level 5) in Letchworth Garden City as well as the Civic Centre in Royston and The Twitchell in Baldock.

Each recharging point has the facility to recharge two EVs at the same time and so two side by side parking bays are designated for EV recharging at each car park.

They were installed following a grant in 2013 from the Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV).

How to register

If you would like to use these EV charging points, you need to register online with CPS GENIE. Any vehicle that is licensed with the DVLA as a pure electric or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle can join the scheme. This includes motorbikes, cars, vans, trucks and scooters.
