There's not long to go now until Hitchin's brilliant open air pool re-opens - so we thought you'd like to see five stunning black and white photographs!

As we continue to ease out of lockdown Hitchin's outdoor swimming pool is now fully filled with water ahead of its reopening date this weekend.

North Herts District Council and Stevenage Leisure Limited are expecting a number of people to take advantage of Hitchin's popular open air swimming facility.

And as we can see from the five evocative black and white photographs of our town's open air pool from the 1950s and 1960s that Nub News is sharing, people from Hitchin have always enjoyed an outdoor dip!

The wonderful images are from Hitchin's North Herts Museum in Brand Street.

In the latest in our Hitchin Nub News series showcasing wonderfully evocative vintage black and white photographs here's a series of iconic shots courtesy of NHDC.

PS Don't forget to visit the brilliant North Herts Museum in our town.

If you like old photos then you will have to take in their exhibition called Frozen In Time – Early Photographs of North Herts, which will run until 27 June.

The must-see exhibition will feature a series of 48 photographs of North Herts in Victorian and Edwardian times from the museum's collections.

The fascinating images of towns and villages in the district offer a snapshot into the daily lives of people who lived and worked there during those eras.
