Hitchin: Five reasons to read Nub News!
By Layth Yousif
22nd Oct 2020 | Local News
Hitchin Nub News is going from strength to strength with our unique brand of hyper-local journalism.
Why? Because we support our town, the hard-working, creative people in it, and all the brilliant businesses that help make Hitchin such a special place.
Nub News is the future of local journalism here in Hitchin and in towns up and down the country.
We've already reached our 50th Nub News town nationally and have plans to reach more than 700.
We're growing every day thanks to our ever-growing number of readers - here's why:
1) We don't pay lip service to businesses, we actively go and meet people and companies, listen to them and publish their stories.
Our UP CLOSE series is becoming a must-read for anyone interested in our town and the brilliant, hard-working, creative people doing great things in it that deserve to be highlighted.
We've penned in-depth features on everyone from Sir Keir Starmer on his visit to Hitchin, to town centre manager Tom Hardy.
We've gone out and met big names in the thriving Hitchin independent business scene including Matt Bean from Cantina Carnitas, Fabio Vincenti from Fabio's Gelato, Chris Cheah owner of Chicken George - as well as Simmy and Thai Dhillon from Rice and Spice, and Thai Lao Kitchen to name but a few.
We've also spoken to creative talents in our town such as the brilliant Danny Pearson who writes for the world famous Bean Comic, as well as Adam Howard, tireless organiser of the BacktoSchoolival sports festival - not to mention inimitable Drag Queen Magenta Slipperz.
Quite simply if you're doing good work in our town, you're on our radar for one of our special UP CLOSE features.
And that's not all, we also get out and about to meet inspirational people in our community such as Hitchin's Black Lives Matter movement, Hitchin Food Rescue and Hitchin Squirrel Rescue.
We've got a lot more lined up including the landlords of a popular pub for our next UP CLOSE.
We don't speak about highlighting outstanding Hitchin people and businesses - we go out and do it.
