Hitchin: Gritting crews out in force in bid to keep our area moving with temperatures expected to plummet

An army of gritters have been out in force across the county including Hitchin all week with temperatures dropping across our area.

With temperatures still expected to remain low after Nub News reported cold conditions in our area earlier this month.

With a risk of ice on the roads, drivers are being reminded to take particular care.

Crews have been in action since last week as colder temperatures were forecast.

Phil Bibby, Executive Member for Highways and Transport at Hertfordshire County Council said: "Please remember to always drive to the conditions, especially at this time of year.

"Just because it doesn't look like there is ice doesn't mean the roads are not slippery.

"If temperatures drop below zero and there is any moisture in the air, they can still be slippery."
