Hitchin: Yet another bank has closed for good in our town centre.

The Halifax branch on Hitchin High Street has now shut its doors for good.

The closure comes after Lloyds and Halifax announced that 40 branches would close between April and June this year - with 22 relating to Lloyds and the remaining 18 to be Halifax, including their Hitchin branch.

Lloyds Banking Group has 19m online banking customers and over 15m mobile app users and are actively shutting stores in a bid to save money.

The pair of bankers also shut 186 branches last year, with another 100 in 2020 and 2021 - a huge number of closures.

Halifax said: "This [Hitchin] branch is now closed," advising customers to: "Please let us know if you need any extra support to do your banking."

The nearest Halifax branches are at 1 Commerce Way, Letchworth and 97-99 Queensway, Stevenage.
