HITCHIN: Is your restaurant continuing Eat Out to Help Out? Nub News can help spread the word!

The Eat Out to Help Out scheme has proved to be a huge hit up and down the country including Hitchin.

With more than 100m diners claiming cut-price meals through the month of August, chancellor Rishi Sunak's initiative to get people back into restaurants has been a great success.

During the last week of the scheme the number of meals claimed rose from 65m to a tenth of a billion.

While the last-minute rush means the government scheme will cost more than the £500m set aside to help the hospitality industry during the Covid crisis, the scheme has been an undeniable success in helping punters return to restaurants.

The Treasury said 84,700 establishments had signed up to the scheme and had so far made 130,000 claims worth £522m.

Bank holiday Monday saw the scheme come to an end, but some national chains have announced that they will be continuing with the offer.

We want to ensure that smaller restaurants and cafés in Hitchin and the surrounding areas are not left out.

If you are a business owner or a foodie whose favourite restaurant is continuing the Eat Out to Help Out offer, let Nub News know and we will spread the word!

Simply email [email protected] with the name of the restaurant or cafe, location and details of the offer. Alternatively, feel free to message us on Facebook.

We aim to publish an up to date list of all participating eateries so customers can continue to support our local businesses.
