A Hitchin man aged 44 has been arrested after he allegedly threatened a person with an offensive weapon and was racially abusive.

A Hitchin man aged 44 has been arrested after he allegedly threatened a person with an offensive weapon and was racially abusive.

Herts Police were called at 930am on Thursday, (January 18) to Morrisons in Broadway in Letchworth town centre.

The man from Hitchin was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, affray, threats to kill, and a racially-aggravated public order offence.

He remains in custody at this time, and a police investigation has been launched.
