Happy St George's Day says Hitchin master butcher Keith Jones as he marks eight years today in his popular Redhill Road shop!

St George's Day falls on April 23 and honours the patron saint of England renowned for slaying a dragon. He is remembered every year on the same date he died in 303 AD.

Unfortunately as the birthday of England's patron saint has never been designated a Bank Holiday designated we'll all have to keep on working.

Which is what Keith Jones Butchers will be doing!

Popular Keith posted on his Facebook page that as well as being St George's Day it is: "Also eight years since we first opened our doors!

"We have had highs and lows but by God has this been one hell of a year - we have grown so much.

"With 145, 'five star' Google reviews - and only one 'two star' review (if anyone mentions a single egg and gristle in the sausages I will delete them!)

'We've also been nominated for the Peoples Choice and Family Business of the Year, 4.3k members in the group page and now serving over a thousand customers a week," and the modest butcher added: "We are still striving to be better every day."

Keith is launching his BBQ counter today, St George's Day, so with the weather hopefully set fair for later and the weekend, why not get down to Redhill Road and snap up some of the best meats in our area.
