Have you seen the mysterious 'Green Wall' in the centre of Hitchin?
A structure has emerged in Market Place over the last week that has caused much comment and puzzlement.
As people enjoy the return of life after lockdown, amid the open air seating in the square, a 'Green Wall' has sprung up.
A quote on the back of the structure reads: "Nature protects if she is protected."
But what is Hitchin's 'Green Wall?
Well, it has Hitchin BID branding on the back of it, but very little else to go on.
Hitchin Nub News has asked Hitchin town centre manager Tom Hardy for more information and we are waiting to hear back.
The Green Wall also bears the the name of 'Urban Green Artists' who are based in our town's industrial estate at Wilbury Way.
They note on their website that they specialise in nature roofs, living walls and podium decks and are very passionate about planting to encourage bees, butterflies and other insects to their roofs and walls.
Hitchin Nub News has also contacted them for more information.
In the meantime, this is what else we know know so far about 'Green Walls'...
What is a 'Green Wall'?
A living green wall is a large structure made up of panels or plants that are grown vertically.
The plants are either attached to an internal or external wall and can be used as a design feature in many different places.
Vertical green walls are becoming increasingly popular among businesses.
Their structures of greenery are seen as statement pieces for clients and customers.
All of the plants within the green wall system can be selected based on client preference, environment conditions and brand requirements.
