Wenzel's The Bakers are set to open in Hitchin town centre a matter of yards from Greggs near to the market square.

The company that first launched in 1975 is expected to take over the the of the former Tui's travel centre at 13 High Street.

According to a planning application lodged with North Herts Council plans have been proposed for the installation of a front and rear shopfront prior to opening for business.

Wenzel's said: "Our mission is to offer the best of baking at reasonable prices to our batch of lovely customers.

"As a family business, we bring that love to every bite, dedicating lots of pace and pounds to innovative product development and an incredible customer experience.
