Police launch hunt for dog owner after 11-year-old boy taken to hospital after having face bitten

Appeal after child is bitten by dog in park - Stevenage

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses after a boy was bitten by a dog while playing in a Stevenage park. 

The incident happened at the playing fields off Chester Road and Canterbury Way, with the boy, aged 11, suffering injuries to his face and requiring hospital treatment. His cheek had been bitten and scratched. 

The dog is described as brown and medium in size. 

PC Georgina Yeabsley said: "This incident happened in the middle of the afternoon during the school summer holidays when there were several other people on the fields who may have seen what happened.

"If you witnessed the incident or have information that could help us to identify the dog's owners please get in touch."

The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 27 at around 215pm.
