Hitchin Nub News regional editor Layth: Not long now until I run the Edinburgh half marathon for Willow Foundation

This weekend sees Nub News regional editor Layth Yousif run the Edinburgh half marathon in aid of the Herts based Willow Foundation.

Layth will be pounding the streets of the Scottish capital to boost the coffers of the brilliant Willow - who have shops across North Herts including Letchworth and Stevenage.

Our busy editor popped by Willow's main offices in Welwyn on Thursday to pick up running vests for him and his partner Faye, who will also be running.

"Good luck for the weekend and thank you for your continued support," the Willow team told Layth, who has been busy training for the fund-raising event - even if he isn't a fan of running.

Layth added: "A massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far - it's been humbling to meet the Willow team and hear about the incredible work they do for people with life-threatening illnesses in our area and beyond.

"The Willow team are all heroes - between my wonderful partner Faye and myself all we're focusing on is getting to the finish line, and hopefully raising as much money as possible for such a great cause. "

Thanks to the generosity of so many people over the years since 1999, Willow has fulfilled more than 17,000 Special Days for young adults living with life-threatening conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and Huntington's disease.
