A cold yet clear evening saw several hundred people gather on Windmill Hill to honor the life and legacy of Victoria Kevans with the unveiling of a memorial bench overlooking the town she cherished so deeply.

The event was filled with warmth, emotion, and celebration, as the community came together to remember Victoria's extraordinary impact.

There were three cheers, tears, glowing lights, and balloons, along with heartfelt eulogies, poems, and laughter.

The bench, funded by the local community, bears the inscription: "Some people who shine too brightly can never be forgotten"—a sentiment that perfectly encapsulates the way Victoria touched the lives of so many.

Tom Hardy of Visit Hitchin, described her as "truly the heart of the community ... someone who had a remarkable gift for bringing people together and making them feel seen and valued".

"Vic may no longer be with us, but her light is still here," he shared during the dedication.

Hannah Brown of Jolly Brown, Matt B from Hitchin Street Food, and Helen spoke fondly of Victoria's commitment to equal opportunities and her role as a driving force in what they called the "Hitchin sisterhood."

Jim from The Vic and Vinny, Victoria's brother, also shared poignant tributes.

The bench now stands as a lasting tribute to a woman whose spirit and dedication to the people of Hitchin will continue to inspire for generations to come.
