A Hitchin secondary school has released Covid infection figures this week.

The Priory School has experienced a spike in coronavirus numbers this month, with the learning establishment on Bedford Road taking the decision to introduce a circuit break for sixth formers, in a bid to limit the spread of the deadly virus during the second lockdown.

Headteacher Geraint Edwards, who has been praised for his transparency during the Covid crisis by a number of parents, has shared the exact number of infections at his school with parents.

In a letter seen by Hitchin Nub News, the head revealed the following details:

Wednesday, November 11:

One positive case in Year 13 and 9 students identified as close contacts and self-isolating.

Thursday, November 12:

One positive case in Year 9 and 26 students identified as close contacts and self-isolating.

One positive case in Year 12 and 23 students identified as close contacts and self-isolating.
