Organisers of a one-off Christmas Market for independent businesses are delighted at the success of their event, intended to attract people to shop local this festive season.

Hitchin Shared Space, off Market Place, hosted a socially distanced Christmas Market this weekend.

The event in the centre of town featured local designers and producers on Saturday and Sunday.

Included in the wares was Hitchin's must-have Christmas present, Dan the Scribbler's tea towel.

Organiser Dan Bramall said: "Thank you so much to all who came to our Christmas market.

"It was wonderful to have a real event after a year of doing so much virtually - or not at all.

"Don't forget that our shop, full of wonderful things from local creatives, is open next Saturday and we are open for hotdesking."

Hitchin Shared Space is just off Hitchin market place at the back of the Carling Building next to the H Town clothes shop.
