Social campaigner and Premier League striker Marcus Rashford's campaign to provide food for hungry school children, who would otherwise go without, during the forthcoming half term break, has captured the hearts of the country.

The Manchester United and England striker star admitted he was 'blown away' by the outpouring of offers of free meals for vulnerable youngsters up and down the country, including Hitchin.

The support came after 332 MPs, including Hitchin parliamentarian Bim Afolami voted not to extend the free school meals scheme in England so that it covers the school holidays until Easter 2021.

However, 22-year-old Three Lions forward Rashford, has helped to spread the word about communities spontaneously offering free food and even took a special interest in Hitchin, tweeting our Nub News story about Chicken George's generous offer of help to north Herts kids.
