Hitchin has been hit by heavy snow this week which has caused problems for our areas infrastructure - including bin collections.

As Hitchin Nub News reported on Monday, snow came to North Herts with a vengeance over the course of late Sunday evening and the early hours of Monday morning.

This led to transport chaos on roads across Hertfordshire, including the A1M at Stevenage - as well as cancelled flights at nearby Luton Airport.

In addition many councils around our county have announced bin collections have been disrupted, and altered for today and across this week.

The local council told Nub News: "Our waste crews are out collecting bins today where possible, but the snow and icy conditions continue to cause disruption.

"Please leave your bin out as normal and loosen frozen contents where possible, and we will do our best to collect it.

"If your bin was not collected yesterday, please leave it out today, and we will try to collect it."
