HITCHIN: Our town has shown solidarity with the people of Ukraine since the Russian invasion.
The flagpole in Hitchin Market Place has been flying proudly in support of the courage of the Ukraine people, while the Orange Tree has been at the forefront fundraising.
There have also been supply collections in Hitchin while St Mary's has offered solace for those wishing to light a candle for those suffering under the onslaught of Russian bombs and tanks.
St Mary's has also ensured its flowers are sporting the colours of the Ukraine flag, yellow and blue.
St Mary's told Nub News: "At St Mary's we continue to hold Ukraine and its people in our prayers in these horrendous days. Trinity chapel has been designated as a place of prayer for this purpose.
"In addition, we will be holding a collection this Sunday and next week for the Disasters Emergency Committee, which receives matched funding from HM Government. There will be online giving options on our website next week too. Please give generously."
The Church is open for all this weekend from 11am-3pm on Saturday and 11-1pm on Sunday, as well as for regular Sunday services. Everyone is welcome.
The Choral evensong service will be livestreamed on their YouTube channel at 630pm
