Ickleford Cricket Club have paid tribute to the late Shane Warne.

It is hard to believe Shane Warne has died and at just 52 years of age writes Roy Izzard on behalf of Ickleford CC

He was a true legend who made everyone sit up and take notice when he played.

He was sheer entertainment and you could tell how much he loved the game. The list of tributes from his fellow players show just how highly he was regarded both on and off the pitch.

He was responsible for many young players taking up spin bowling and indeed he almost single handedly made spin bowling fashionable after years of the dominance of fast bowlers.

He brought real entertainment to the game of cricket and believed a game could still be won whatever the position was at the time.

He was an iconic figure and we were lucky to live through his career as his type only come along once in a generation.
