Hitchin Town Football Club and the Hitchin Cow Commoners Trust have announced plans to work together on a long-term vision for the future of the town's historic Top Field ground.

The two organisations have agreed a shared ambition to create a modern, inclusive and community-focused facility which protects the heritage of the site while delivering benefits for supporters and the wider community.

As part of the proposals, the partners are exploring the possibility of releasing part of the site for development to fund investment in new and improved sporting and community facilities at Top Field.

In a statement they said:

"This is a golden opportunity to build on our common goals and create a legacy for future generations. Our ambition is to retain the spirit and history of Top Field while enhancing the space to better serve both the football club and the wider community."

The club and trust stressed that engagement with supporters, residents and local groups will form a key part of the process. Consultation will take place at the appropriate stage to ensure the project reflects the needs and aspirations of Hitchin people.
