Hitchin Town have moved their FA Cup first qualifying round clash 24 hours back to Monday.

The Canaries had been set to host fellow Southern League Premier Division Central side Needham Market in the cup next Tuesday, but have now rescheduled the clash for a day earlier.

Tickets will go on sale from 6pm on Tuesday evening.

The Fishponds Road outfit are also to host Needham Market at Top Field in the league on Monday, October 5.

Hitchin reached the third qualifying round last year, 12 months after making the first round proper in an unforgettable run that saw the BBC choose Top Field to host the FA Cup draw in the clubhouse.

The prize fund will give each winner £2,250 while the losing teams receive £750.

Hitchin's pre-season ended at Top Field on Saturday with an excellent 2-0 victory over Barnet from the National League.

Callum Stead, who has returned to the club after a successful campaign at Welwyn Garden City, grabbed a brace to see the Canaries win eight out of eight summer friendlies, notching 32 goals, conceding only three.

Hitchin aim to hit the ground running as the new season looms when Alvechurch visit Top Field in their opening Southern League game on Saturday.

Hitchin Nub News will be reporting on the season opener from Top Field on Saturday as well as the FA Cup clash on Monday.
