'Wow!' That's the reaction from Hitchin Town this week after posting sold-out signs ahead of a prestigious pre-season friendly.

The Canaries revealed every ticket of the 650 allocated for the derby against near neighbours Luton Town has now been snapped up.

The Fishponds Road outfit are set to host the Championship side on Saturday, July 3, with a 3pm kick-off.

The clash will be Hatters' first game of the season and they will bring their first team squad.

Hitchin Town secretary and stalwart Roy Izzard said: "We are grateful to chief executive officer Gary Sweet, manager Nathan Jones, and the rest of the Luton staff for agreeing to return to Top Field.

"We have an excellent relationship with Luton and they used our facilities on a number of occasions last season."

The last time the Canaries played a pre-season game against Luton was in July 2018, when a Top Field crowd of 788 saw Luton win 6-2.
