Hitchin Town FC's new rebrand is proving quids in for the homely Top Field outfit - with more than £4,000 worth of shirts sold.

Online sales of new merchandise have continued to hit stunning levels for the Canaries with more than 70 new jerseys sold already - which is a record for the Fishponds Road club.

The sales success follows the club unveiling a new badge last month that looks uncannily similar to Premier League new boys Norwich City.

The crest rebrand came courtesy of renowned kit manufacturers Hummel and features a canary to reflect the club's nickname and came at no cost to the club.

Club stalwart and secretary Roy Izzard said: "This is way beyond any levels of sales previously experienced.

"Interestingly sales have not by any means been confined to Hitchin and the surrounding areas.

"We have dispatched items to all corners of the UK, and have dispatched orders to the United States and Canada.

"So we really are becoming both a nationwide and a worldwide concern!"
