Hitchin: Why is Harry Styles filming in our town - find out more!

It's not everyday a pop star comes to Hitchin.

But that's exactly what has happened today, Tuesday, when film crews descended on our town to shoot Harry Styles in a new movie.

A raft of cameramen along with outside catering companies have decamped on Butts Close and the car park off Fishponds Road.

The area has turned into a film set with the fence along the walk to Archers Gym blacked out as you can see by our pictures, with most staff staying tight-lipped.

However, undeterred, Nub News has found out for you that the 27-year-old former One Direction star, along with other big names are in Hitchin with Amazon Prime, who are shooting at our outdoor pool.

A source told Hitchin Nub News: "The film is called My Policeman with Harry Styles, Rupert Everett and Emma Corrin."

The film is adapted from Bethan Roberts's popular book, that follows a love triangle between a man, a woman, and a policeman, set in the 1950s.

Corrin, who starred in Netflix's hit series The Crown is starring opposite Styles.

Best known for her explosive role as Princess Diana in popular show, the 25-year-old Corrin stars as Marion opposite Styles's Tom.

Bafta-winning English actor Everett is renowned for previous roles such as Another Country, My Best Friend's Wedding, An Ideal Husband.

Tony-winning British theatre director Michael Grandage is at the helm with Ron Nyswaner adapting the screenplay.

Filming started earlier this spring with one particularly steamy shot in which Styles and Corrin were snapped during a kissing scene while on set in Brighton.

They'd better act fast if there will be more today as Nub News understands that the actors and film crews will only be in Hitchin for the day.
