We're used to film crews in and around Hitchin - from the hit show Dr Foster being 'based' here, to various advertisements shot for national broadcasters.

Such a picturesque town lends itself to the big screen rather well.

So what's the reason for cameras turning up this week?

The answer is Simon Edwards of course!

The humble Hitchin Town steward, who was adopted as a child, saw his life change last month when he tracked down his birth father - who happened to be the legendary boxing commentator 'Colonel Bob' Sheridan, whose net worth is said to be £200m.

Sports lover and family man Simon, whose passion is for his two daughters, Hitchin Town FC, Letchworth CC in that order, was welcomed by The Colonel with open arms, in a tale fit for Hollywood.

Did we mention Hollywood?

Well, Colonel Bob's life will soon be a Hollywood film - which has been amended to include his soon-to-be first meeting with his long-lost son Simon.

So, it's no surprise TV crews want to capture the build-up.

Filming will begin at 9am on Wednesday morning with Simon and his adopted family in Hitchin, in a bid to learn more about his own story - before the cameras move to Top Field.

The crew want to film passionate Canary Simon having a kick-about on the hallowed Top Field turf before, at 6pm, a Zoom call will take place between The Colonel and Colonel Junior.

The itinerary then sees the crew and Simon head to a 'local pub' to film the good-natured family man and his friends having a drink, with 'further short interviews with those mates.'

Sounds like a busy a day ahead for Simon, he'll need a beer at the end of it all by the sounds of it!
