Hottest tickets in town - Hitchin Band returned to play inside St Mary's Church to great acclaim.

Our town's acclaimed band took part in the The Snowman at St Mary's over the weekend - billed as the hottest tickets in town after tickets for all three performances sold out on the day of release.

The lucky ones who managed to get a ticket were treated to a screening of the British classic. The tale of a young boy who can't believe his eyes one winter's night when a snowman comes to life and an unforgettable adventure begins.

The audience's enjoyed special screenings of the timeless classic animated film, featuring live performances of Howard Blake's musical score specially adapted for brass band and performed by the Hitchin Band. It was a perfect opportunity to enjoy a festive family friendly afternoon of music and film.

Attendee and Hitchin resident Danny Pearson told Nub News: "These really were the hottest tickets in town - it was a real festive treat to be able to watch the classic Snowman film along with the extremely talented people from Hitchin Band.

"The church setting was absolutely perfect, and how lovely it was that this year Hitchin has new guests in the form of snowman sculptures."

The 'Walking with The Snowman Trail' landed in Hitchin a couple of weeks ago, ready for this Christmas - there are 12 snowmen to find across the town, each based on one of the 12 days of Christmas.

The sculptures were produced by Wild in Art, who put together all sorts of sculpture trails around the UK. This Trail helps the amazing local charity, Open ArtBox, and the Trail map was provided by local designer Dan Bramall, AKA The Scribbler.

Some of you will have also already seen that one of the snowmen was painted by the very gifted local artist, Sarah Graham. NHC, Cala Homes, Wild in Art and Hitchin Bid have all worked together to make this happen.

St Mary's Church were also able to link their annual Snowman Concert to this Trail and the Library and Museum are holding special events for the younger snowman fans. Maps can still be picked up at The Library, The Bid Office, and the Museum.
