The tale of a Hitchin man who found his long-lost dad could be set for another twist - after he revealed he wants to be the next Roman Abramovich!
Humble Simon Edwards has certainly had a few weeks he'll never forget after tracing his birth father in a tale that has won Hitchin hearts as well as many around the globe.
Down-to-earth Simon, who was adopted as a child, saw his life change last month when he traced his birth father.
Incredibly, his long lost dad just so happened to be the legendary boxing commentator 'Colonel Bob' Sheridan, whose net worth is said to be £200m.
Proud dad and Hitchin Town steward Simon, whose passion is for his two daughters, the Canaries and Letchworth CC, was welcomed by The Colonel with open arms, in a wonderful tale that is to be filmed for Hollywood.
Yet, for humble Simon, any future riches that might come his way are far less important than his delight in finding his birth father.
Simon is getting a deserved reputation for being a lucky chap - he also picked the winner of the Grand National earlier this month
However, should any inheritance come his way from his long-lost dad Colonel Bob - who has been delighted to welcome his son into his life and is gearing up for a first face to face meeting in Las Vegas this summer - then Simon has revealed what he would like to do with the unexpected windfall - take Hitchin Town into the Football League and become the Roman Abramovich of North Herts!
Speaking to Hitchin Town stalwart Roy Izzard in an interview on the club's official website, unassuming Canary fanatic Simon shared his plans.
Roy explained: "Simon did tell me he would one day like to invest in Hitchin Town FC and try to get them promoted through to the Football League.
"He said he would quite like to be the Roman Abramovich of non-league football."
Now, wouldn't that be a wonderful idea!
