Kebabs for jabs - will your local takeaway being joining in?

In a bid to boost vaccination rates among young people, cinema tickets, taxi rides and even pizza or kebabs are set to be offered in exchange for agreeing to have a Covid vaccination.

Government sources say a number of big name firms are in talks to join the project which officials hope will boost teenagers and people in their 20s to get the vaccine.

To date, Uber as well as fast-food service Deliveroo have signed up, but feelers are being put out to get as many local independent take-aways to join the scheme as well.

Vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi said: "Thank you to the businesses who have backed this mission – please get your jabs as soon as you can and grab a bargain."

No age limit has been agreed on the deals yet but the scheme is designed to increase the uptake of vaccines in 18-30 year olds.

Under the scheme, Uber will begin sending reminders to all users of its app from next month.
