Keech Hospice Care invites community to a very messy 5km event

On Sunday 25 June, Keech Hospice Care is holding its Colour Dash event for the first time ever in Harpenden. People of all ages are invited to come along and either walk, jog or run the 5km route, all in the name of vital fundraising for Keech Hospice Care.

Participants start the course wearing a clean plain white T shirt and a pair of funky glasses, and armed with a pouch of powder paint, all provided on the morning of the event. 'Paint bandits' are positioned throughout the course and will be showering participants with an array of coloured paints, so by the time they reach the finish line, everyone looks like they have walked through a rainbow!

The Colour Dash begins at Rothamsted Park, Harpenden at 11am, and goes through till 3pm. Those taking part complete the course at their own pace – the emphasis is on having fun.

People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join (children under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult). The course is mainly flat and is on grass.

Liz Searle, CEO of Keech Hospice Care, says: "The Colour Dash is an inclusive event that welcomes all people from all over our community. Those who take part will not only be doing something incredible for a local charity, but will have so much fun with family and friends at the same time."

Those wishing to take part must register in advance at Colour Dash - Keech Hospice Care. The cost per adult taking part is £15 and per child £10. Pushchairs for children 3 and under are free. Anyone wishing to raise sponsorship on top of the entry fee is most welcome. A sponsorship total of just £37, for example, would be a remarkable contribution, providing one hour of nursing care in Keech Hospice Care's in-patient unit.

Anyone over 16 wanting to get involved in a different way can sign up to volunteer for the event. Volunteers are being recruited now to help on the day and be paint bandits! Sign up here.
