Kind-hearted Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse backing ShelterBox charity challenge 'Tent for Lent'
The kind-hearted folk at Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse are backing a charity committed to helping disaster-affected families vulnerable to coronavirus.
ShelterBox is a charity that supports those who have lost everything as a result of natural disaster, climate change or war - as well as the ongoing Covid crisis.
Hitchin Tilehouse has a long history of supporting ShelterBox, via the wonderful support of our local community, schools, and youth groups.
To mark the 20th anniversary of ShelterBox, the Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse hopes to raise £12,000 to fund 20 'ShelterBoxes' - containing a range of items the charity sends to help families in disaster situations.
Hitchin Tilehouse is currently supporting two ShelterBox campaigns: Give a Tent for Lent and The Sheltermaker Challenge.
In order to prepare for Easter, it's Christian tradition to observe the season of Lent.
During this period, believers typically fast, give something up, or commit to certain acts of kindness for the 40 days between the start and end of Lent.
Hitchin Tilehouse Rotary are asking what you will give up for Lent to help ShelterBox?
What will you give up to give shelter?
What would you give up for 40 days? From chocolate to cake, flat whites to Facebook, by giving up something for Lent and raising money in aid of ShelterBox, you can help families to stay safe and start again.
You can take part in three easy steps:
Step One:Choose something you want to give up for Lent
Step Two: Donate the money you would have saved or get your friends and family to sponsor you, particularly if you know it's going to be a tough 40 days.
Step Three: Why not challenge someone to
take part with you? We're all for a bit of moral support. You can donate via The Rotary Club of HITCHIN Tilehouse 20@20 Global Giving campaign here For more information visit ShelterBox See Nub News later this week for part two of the Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse's Shelterbox Challenge. ShelterBox is committed to supporting disaster-affected families who are vulnerable to coronavirus and is determined to make sure that families can recover quickly, stay healthy and be less exposed to the risksof the virus.
