A furious car owner said he is being given 'no information' about his BMW trapped inside Luton Airport's burned-out multi storey car park.

The move comes following a massive blaze that forced the closure of the busy Bedfordshire travel hub on Wednesday (October 11).

The catering company owner begged security to let him approach the five-storey Terminal 2 car park, where he left his BMW X5.

He left it on Floor Three, where the fire is believed to have started.

The 37-year-old BMW owner who asked not be named, bought the car two years ago for £35,000.

He left his car keys in the vehicle and had to break into his own house today after navigating 'crazy' scenes as passengers landed in the UK.

He said it would make his journey easier if he drove to Luton and parked just a short walk from the terminal.

He said: "I thought it was convenient to drive the car and just to walk there [to Luton Airport], but that convenience happened to be very inconvenient."

The businessman left the country for just three days to visit his father who was recovering from surgery in Albania.

Shortly before he was due to land at Luton passengers on his flight were told they were to be diverted to Gatwick, because of the fire.

However, on their way to Gatwick the plan changed again and they were told they would land in Cardiff.

He said: "We have been told nothing, last night we were supposed to be here, and they send us to Cardiff, we end up in Cardiff.

"We were about to land here [Luton] and they said, no, you can't land here there's a fire here, we're going to land you in Gatwick.

"We came and they said oh, not Gatwick, you are in Cardiff.

"They said there were buses waiting outside there [Cardiff Airport], we went outside there was 500 people, chasing, chasing the taxis.

"It was all crazy, taxis drivers were asking £250 per person from Cardiff to here [Luton]."

He said he got a taxi to Cardiff railway station, then a train to Reading in Berkshire.

From there he got to his home in Lightwater, Surrey, then took another train to arrive at Luton.

He continued: "I got in my house by the window because my house keys were in my car, I went through the main window and then opened the door.

"My neighbour was helping me with her chair."

He said he left in the car: "My house keys, my business keys, lots of paperwork, trainers, lots of stuff, sunglasses, lots of normal belongings but important belongings."

Speaking from the pavement to the airport, looking onto the blackened car park, he said: "I think my car is okay because I can see the car beneath [on the second floor], and that's okay. My car is right one level above, but I can't see.

"I was begging [the security] just to go by the side, just to see. I was just going to go just by the edge.

"I will have to get rental cars, or borrow a car from a friend, I can't be without driving, and they won't give me anything.

"What can you do?"

He said he didn't want to lose his no-claims insurance bonus by lodging a claim, and worried it could be considered his fault.

A woman approached the car park to check on her car from a distance.

The businessman asked security why she could do that and he wasn't allowed.

He said the security told him they told her off.

He said: "I'm thinking maybe I need to do it as well and be told off.

"If I could just walk onto the grass I could see what's there."
