HITCHIN: Motorists in our area faced large-scale delays on the M1 after a series of incidents led to lane closures this morning, Wednesday, [January 26]

Drivers from our town set to use the M1 have been advised to find alternative routes, after heavy delays earlier this morning.

A lane had to be shut after a crash on the southbound carraiageway near to Junction 9 and the A5183 with traffic snarled all the way back to Junction 10 for the Luton Airport (A505 Hitchin turnoff).

There was also stationary traffic for three miles on northbound lanes after past Junction 9.

Lanes have now been re-opened but there are still delays.
