Man charged following incident at Stevenage pub

A man has been charged in connection with an incident at a pub in Stevenage on New Year's Eve.

Charlie Kettle, aged 24, from Pembridge Gardens,Stevenage, was arrested at an address in Newmarketon on Sunday (15 January).

He was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and appeared before Hatfield Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday 17 January). He has been remanded into custody and is next due to appear before St Albans Crown Court on 20 February.

Police were called at around 11.20pm on Saturday 31 December following an altercation at Our Mutual Friend public house in Broadwater Crescent.

It was reported that the altercation then continued outside and a firearm was involved. No one was injured and no damage was caused.

Three people were arrested at the scene in connection with the incident.

A 26 year old man from Stevenage was arrested on suspicion of affray. A 22 year old woman and a 44 year old man, also both from Stevenage, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They all remain on police bail while enquiries continue.
