Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a public order incident in Hitchin last month.

Officers were called to Bancroft at around 5.50pm on Tuesday 30 July, when it was reported that an individual was heard using abusive language.

Officers quickly made enquiries and a 54-year-old man from Hitchin was arrested in connection with the incident. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Samantha Casey, from the North Herts Local Crime Unit, said: "As part of our investigation, I am appealing for witnesses to please come forward.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been walking in the area around Bancroft Recreational Ground and heard something to get in touch.

"If you have any information that may assist us, please email me directly at [email protected]."
