Milford Lodge Care Home in Hitchin was filled with joy, music, and heartfelt celebration as residents, families, and staff came together to honour Millie's remarkable 100th birthday — a milestone that brought the whole home to life.

The day began with a wave of colour and kindness as 121 handmade birthday cards arrived from local children across the community. Pupils from Wilshere Dacre, York Road, Samuel Lucas, Tilehouse Street Nursery, and Whitehill School created beautifully decorated cards, each one filled with warm wishes for Millie's special day. Their creativity and thoughtfulness brought huge smiles to residents and staff, and Millie was deeply touched by the effort.

Adding to the excitement, Millie received the honour that every centenarian treasures — a birthday card from the King, congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary age.

The celebrations continued with a lively performance from singer Gemma, whose warm vocals and nostalgic favourites had residents singing along, clapping, and sharing memories of birthdays gone by. Her set created a joyful atmosphere that perfectly matched the significance of the day.

🍰 A Sweet Celebration: Cakes Fit for 100 Years

No 100th birthday would be complete without something spectacular — and Milford Lodge delivered. Activity Coordinator Devina Kutowaroo crafted a stunning selection of treats, including:

Milford Lodge is a 60 bed residential care home in Hitchin with an 18 bed Dementia environment "Sycamore".
