Residents at Milford Lodge Care Home in Hitchin were treated to a delightful surprise yesterday as the Engagement Team unveiled their very own Ice Cream Trolley, created especially to help keep everyone cool and hydrated during the extreme temperatures.

Complete with a cheerful ice‑cream‑van jingle playing as it travelled through the home, the trolley brought instant smiles, giggles, and a wave of nostalgia. For many residents, the familiar tune sparked warm memories of childhood summers, neighbourhood ice cream vans, and the simple joy of choosing a favourite treat on a hot day.

A Creative Way to Beat the Heat

With temperatures soaring, hydration remains a top priority for the team at Milford Lodge. Offering ice creams and ice lollies is not only refreshing but also a fun, engaging way to encourage residents to stay cool and hydrated.

The trolley — lovingly put together by the Engagement Team — was stocked with colourful lollies, soft scoops, and plenty of choice. Residents enjoyed selecting their favourites, chatting with staff, and sharing stories inspired by the music and treats.
