Modest master butcher Keith makes finals of prestigious award and praises loyal customers: 'I'm so happy I could cry'

A renowned master butcher from Hitchin has been shortlisted for the final of a prestigious award.

Keith Jones Butchers on Redhill Road have made the finals of the Family Business of the Year Awards 2021.

The family run butchers are now in the running for the regional, sector and national Family Business of the Year Awards 2021, with industry judges set to review their entry.

Organisers wrote to Keith saying: "Congratulations on making it to the next stage in the process and good luck."

Big-hearted Keith has won acclaim from so many in our area.

But the praise is not just for the exceptionally high quality of the meat on offer at his shop as good as it is, but also for his outstanding efforts in our community.

Most recently when he hosted a raffle in which he and his customers raised nearly £600 for Ickleford Food Community Larder.

Speaking to Hitchin Nub News, modest Keith said: "I am actually so proud and happy I could cry.

"Not only are we in the running for the people's choice award but for the overall winner of family business of the year 2021."

He went on to praise his loyal customers, saying: "We would not be in this position if it wasn't for you - our loyal and loving customers."
