Most care home residents in Hertfordshire have now received their first vaccination against Covid.

At a meeting of the county council's adult care and health cabinet panel last week, councillors were told that 70 per cent of residents had had at least one Covid jab.

It was also reported 40 per cent of care home staff have received the vaccine – with ongoing work to encourage further uptake.

Speaking at the meeting, interim operations director for older people's services Helen Maneuf said there was now lots of work going with staff to dispel myths about vaccination.

Following the meeting, updated data showed that by Thursday (February 4) 81 per cent of care home residents had received at least the first of the Covid vaccination jabs.
