Alistair Strathern, Labour MP for Hitchin, visited animal charity, Blue Cross, in Kimpton Bottom this week – hailing its work as "fantastic."

Mr Strathern met with staff at the organisation's Hertfordshire shelter and rehoming centre, and got to know many of the dogs, cats and rabbits there too.

Blue Cross is a charity set up in 1897 to support abandoned, sick and injured pets. Every year they provide care for 40,000 pets. They have been operating in Hertfordshire for over 70 years.

The service includes rehoming, veterinary care, and education, advice and bereavement support for pet owners. The charity rehomed an amazing 438 pets in 2023 in Herts alone.

Their work is made possible by kind donations, volunteers and fosterers. Mr Strathern put out a call on his social media for people to get involved and to support this amazing charity.

Mr Strathern said: "It was great to visit Hertfordshire's own Blue Cross centre and see first hand the fantastic work they do.

"They do an especially amazing job rehoming hundreds of once-vulnerable pets every year, providing a bundle of joy into so many homes.

"Their work needs and deserves our support. They a brilliant charity to donate to, and volunteer for.

"I am proud to support Labour's vision to end animal cruelty and safeguard our pets."
