National Rail Strike: Can't get to work from Hitchin - why not use Shared Space
The National Rail Strike might have inconvenienced workers in and around our area as well as further afield as unions fight for pay and working practices - but you can still hot desk from a popular spot in Hitchin.
Shared Space is offering slots today, Tuesday (June 21) for those who can't get to work.
Hitchin has long been a commuter town, the easy access to London making it an ideal destination for young and old alike. But the chore of the daily grind into the city has become increasingly unattractive for younger generations, especially as technology has made connectivity so much easier.
Flexible working is the name of the game these days and co-working environments have become very popular and economical.
A group of Hitchin small business owners, mostly from the creative industries, have responded to demand and established a location in the heart of the town – the Shared Space just off the market square.
Mark Sharp, better known for design agency Inky Design, and Dan Bramall, aka Dan the Scribbler, are two of the driving forces behind the facility.
They said: "Looking for a new work environment? Shared Space is situated right in the centre of Hitchin.
"We offer six daily hot desks for £20 a day with a monitor, a meeting room from £15 per hour and currently have one permanent desk available for £250 a month - which includes free use of our meeting room.
"We also offer free use of our sound-proofed booth as well as free tea and coffee."
Shared Space also sell gifts and homewares created in Hitchin by Dan aka Dan the Scribbler and Bold and Noble.
