New group cycling studio to open at North Herts Leisure Centre this summer

A brand-new group cycling studio is set to open at North Herts Leisure Centre next month as part of a major refurbishment project aimed at expanding fitness facilities for local residents.
Work is due to begin on Monday 11 May, with the new dedicated cycling studio officially opening on Saturday 6 June.
The project was approved by North Herts Council following a public consultation earlier this year. The leisure centre is managed by Everyone Active on behalf of the council.
As part of the plans, one of the centre's two squash courts is being transformed into a purpose-built cycling studio, while the second court has already undergone a full refurbishment.
The upgraded squash court now features a new playing surface, modern heating, redecoration and a new floor aimed at improving conditions for players.
The new cycling studio will include 22 Keiser bikes alongside immersive lighting and upgraded sound systems designed to create a more engaging class experience. Both instructor-led and virtual cycling sessions will be available.
According to the leisure centre, existing cycling classes regularly reach full capacity, with the dedicated studio expected to increase availability and create extra space within the centre's wider group exercise timetable.
A four-week public consultation attracted 214 responses, with 58 per cent of respondents saying they supported or strongly supported the proposal.
Tim Melvin, Contract Manager for Everyone Active, said: "We're proud to be enhancing our facilities to better meet the needs of our community.
"The new group cycling studio will provide a modern, purpose-built space for this popular form of exercise, allowing us to offer even more classes and greater variety for members.
"By moving group cycling into its own dedicated studio, we're also freeing up additional space in our existing studios at peak times. This means we can expand our wider group exercise programme and introduce even more classes for customers to enjoy."
Sarah Kingsley, Director of Environment at North Herts Council, added: "We're pleased to see that North Herts Leisure Centre is adding a new group cycling studio.
"Local feedback has helped guide the project, and we can't wait to welcome everyone to enjoy the improved facilities and join in even more activities."
