As we enter the second national lockdown this week North Herts District Council have amended a number of their services.

Under the new lockdown rules, all non-essential retail, plus pubs and restaurants, must close.

However, Hitchin Market will remain partially open but will be restricted to essential stalls only on Fridays and Saturdays.

Playgrounds will remain open and services such as waste and recycling collections will continue to run as normal, unless NHDC is faced with significant staffing shortages, or other Covid related operational challenges.

NHDC local plan hearings will go ahead – virtually.

Parking enforcement will not be carried out in residential permit areas, due to more people working from home, unless there is a safety issue.

Business Grants

We are waiting for guidance from the government about support grants for those businesses that will be affected by the new lockdown restrictions.

Look out for information on our website about how to apply.
