North Herts PRIDE draws hundreds to Hitchin for annual celebration
By Katie Wilson 23rd Aug 2026
North Herts PRIDE returned to Hitchin on Saturday for its fourth year, bringing sunshine, colour and a strong sense of community to the town centre. The Market Square grew steadily busier throughout the day, with visitors enjoying 22 stalls and 4 food vans offering crafts, information, local organisations and food.
Several shops across Hitchin displayed Pride flags to show their support, adding to the atmosphere around the town.
A parade of around 150 people made its way through the town in the afternoon, creating one of the key moments of the event. Families, friends and allies joined together to celebrate visibility and inclusion across North Hertfordshire.
Entertainment ran throughout the day on the Community Stage, including a choir performance and appearances from drag artists. The drag performers drew large crowds and remained a highlight of the event.
As the daytime celebrations came to a close, the evening continued at The George, starting with more drag performances before moving into a Pride party that carried on late into the night.
Organisers said the event aims to promote inclusion, visibility and community engagement, and described this year's turnout as a positive reflection of growing local support.
