Pupils celebrate the schools grading

Following a graded inspection last month, Preston Primary school is very proud to have maintained its Ofsted GOOD overall rating with behaviour and attitudes named as outstanding!

The report states pupils thrive at Preston Primary School. They approach lessons with enthusiasm and are eager to learn. This helps them to reach the high expectations the school has of them.

Situated in the pretty North Hertfordshire village of Preston, approximately 3 miles south of Hitchin, the junior mixed infant voluntary controlled (VC) primary school accommodates children aged 4 to 11 years.

Headteacher, Mrs Inneke Luitingh, comments, "At the heart of everything that we do, is our motto: 'love, learn, aspire' and I am delighted that the inspectors were able to see this firsthand. As a village school we are very fortunate to enjoy a lovely rural setting, with extensive grounds, providing the children with lots of opportunities for outdoor learning, be that by our wildlife pond, in our outdoor classroom or visiting the local woodland. I am extremely proud of my team and our school each and every day and grateful to be part of such a wonderful community."

The report goes on to say the school has designed a curriculum that is ambitious for what pupils will achieve and the school constantly seeks to find ways of developing the education and experiences of its pupils. The Pupil Parliament has an important voice in how the school is run by, for instance, developing the school's code of conduct and rewards system. Children in Reception learn well across the early years curriculum and staff use resources well to help children secure their knowledge.

One parent voiced their joy at the school's success, "I'm so thrilled that the Headteacher and her fabulous staff have been recognised for all of their hard work. It is thoroughly well deserved, and I couldn't recommend Preston Primary school highly enough!"
